Why Your Main Living Spaces Should Face North

North facing living spaces

When designing your home, it is important to orient rooms to take advantage of the sun whenever beneficial, but to minimise glare and avoid overheating. Your main living spaces such as living and dining rooms should face north where possible. This area gets a good amount of daylight, generating solar gains for most of the day throughout the year and passive solar gains in the winter.
